I want to be an epidemiologist, but I'm not sure I understand the whole process of becoming one. I know that I need to get a bachelor's in a health-related field, but after that It's confusing. Do I get a Master's in Public Health or epidemiology?

Hello, @clarinetplayer7483! Many bachelor's degrees can be used to become an epidemiologist. According to publichealthdegrees.org, undergraduate degrees may include, but are not limited to, biostatistics, health science, or nursing. Students may also major in biology, chemistry, or public health.

Most entry-level epidemiology jobs require a master's degree. Typically, graduate students will pursue a Master of Science or Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology. Some students may pursue a doctorate in epidemiology or a dual degree in medicine.

Check out https://www.publichealthdegrees.org/careers/epidemiologist/ for a more comprehensive guide on how to become an epidemiologist after masters and tips.

I hope this answers your question :)
