I'm a current sophomore and want to be a math major and I was wondering what level colleges I could get into. I have a 4.0 gpa uw taking honors classes (and ap classes next year) and play sports as well as being in performing art. I get A's every quarter in every class and will be taking all AP classes jr/sr year, and I'm planning to start volunteering soon and maybe taking an internship jr year. How competitive of schools could/possibly accept me? (dream schools are UCLA, Stanford, MIT & nyu). thanks!
You definitely have a good chance of getting into a lot of competitive schools. Being a math major is fairly competitive, so you'll need to take that into account. Your college list might look something like this:
Safety/Easy Target (you might get a big scholarship!):
Flagship State School (ex: SUNY at Stony Brook)
Less Competitive Out-of-State Public School (ex: University of Oregon)
Less Competitive Private School (ex: Eckerd College)
Target/Hard Target:
Competitive Out-of-State School (ex: University of Utah)
Moderately Competitive Private School: (ex: College of Wooster)
Flagship Out-of-State School (ex: Rutgers University)
Reach:
Competitive Private School (ex: Emory University)
"Almost Ivies" (ex: UCLA)
Ivy League School (ex: Stanford University)
Hope this helps!
