What are some things you should do in high school to get into good colleges?
Thank you so much!
If you are low-income or first gen. apply for Upward Bound(if your area has it), they help so much.
1. Maintain good GPA(both weighted and unweighted)
2. Engage in meaningful extracurriculars
3. Prepare and appear for SAT/ACT before your senior year so that you have time for another attempt(if required) in your senior year.
4. Establish rapport with your guidance counselor and begin the application process early. This will benefit you as the counselor won't be as available when application time is near. Moreover, he/she will be a potential recommender.
Clarification: Though the list is numbered, it is not meant to be a priority order. Each of these is equally important.
Hope this helps.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Good grades for one, but do not just take classes because they are an easy A. Take difficult classes like AP or honor courses at your school, but do not just take an AP just to take an AP. Extracurriculars are also very important as they can show your passion within a certain field and make you stand out against other applicants. In terms of colleges do not go to a college just because of the name, but because of the programs within that school for your career.
