I'm going into senior year and have sustained decent grades for high school, always above a 3.8 GPA. I took 3 AP classes in my junior year and am planning to take 2-3 classes this coming year. In terms of extracurriculars I've played violin for 10 years, cello for 1.5, been a part of my school's Journalism and Media club (secretary for 3 yrs and vice president this coming year), and I've been involved in a few healthcare-related clubs at my school as a member. I also participated in Brain Camp, a summer intensive program, the Diploma program at the East Bay Center of the Performing arts, and worked a paid internship at a Kaiser Permanente location. Is there anything else I can do? I still feel insecure about my chances of good colleges since collegevine states that my chances are low and don't know how to improve.
One way you could improve your profile is by developing a spike in your extracurriculars. As of now, they are impressive, but could point to multiple different career/major directions. You will want to keep this well-roundedness while building a direction at the same time.
Besides that, put as much effort as you can into crafting stellar essays. These will set you apart more than anything else, and your chances are only low in CollegeVine because we can't quantify the full effects of essays on your application at the moment.
Hope this helps!
I feel like this really depends on what program you’d like to go to school for + which schools!
