Right now, my resume is as follows:
3.12 unweighted GPA
33 ACT
Member of Student Council, National Spanish Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and FCCLA, with National Honors Society being added soon
Sophomore president of the African-American society last year
National History Day bid with a 3rd place placement at Tennessee History Day, with participation in the competition pending this upcoming year
5 AP's and 10 honors classes with 4 more added next year for a total of 9; possibly 3 college classes too next year
Instagram blog for writing with about 7,500 words of content
Small music production business
I'm wondering what I should add alongside this to buff up my resume a bit. What are some recommendations you guys have?
Agreeing with the other answer, I would say that your unweighted GPA is the only area that needs significant improvement. Your ECs, course rigor, and ACT score are all strong even for top schools.
Besides working harder to get the best grades you can, there are other steps you can take to minimize the impact of your UWGPA. The first step is to explain any extenuating circumstances that affected your GPA in the Additional Information section, if this is applicable to you.
If just a few bad grades are weighing you down, explain what made these classes challenging and how you have worked to improve academically. Many other circumstances, such as having a concussion and struggling with memory for a semester, could be highlighted here. There is also a separate section where you can write about any impacts COVID-19 had on your grades.
Lastly, taking the SAT or ACT again could benefit you. By receiving an even higher score than 33, which is competitive but not perfect, you could further offset the impact of your UWGPA.
Hope this helps!
Hello!
Your UWGPA is quite low for many, if not most T20 schools. No matter what your background, status, ECs, and sports say about you, a 3.12 GPA just won't cut it. If you can try to boost this one section of your resume up, you should be good to go.

Thank you! Do you think that attaining National Merit semifinalist/finalist honors with offset my GPA a bit instead of retaking the ACT?
