I am looking for a school that has a culture of intellectualism and academic rigor. I want to major in classics on a pre-med track and maybe minor in music (or at least be involved in music on campus). I have competitive grades, ECs, and SAT scores. I am open to a research university or a liberal arts college. What colleges should I look at?
NYU, John Hopkins, and Duke are good med schools if you are pretty competitive. If you want some extra reach, schools like Harvard, Colombia, and Yale are great. In schools like these, it may be difficult to get into the music programs (of course, it depends how talented, accomplished, and experienced you are, and I don't know this), and many of them will have actual auditions, but anyone can take music lessons or create their own little chamber orchestra or brass quartet, so I'm sure you can still continue that path regardless of whether or not you actually take a music course.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Thanks! I will look at those colleges. Many of my greatest high school achievements have been in music, so I am hoping my music accomplishments and art supplement (or audition?) can be a distinguishing factor in admissions.
