Since 6th grade I've wanted to be a math major/mathematician, but starting this year I've also began considering psych. however, i've always loved science and definitely want to do something stem related, and was wondering what some other good/cool/interesting stem majors are. I'm taking ap chem this year and love it, it's hard but exciting, and next year i'll me in ap psych, calc and physics, so i could definitely handle a harder course and enjoy a more rigorous path. so pretty much what are some majors that are stem/sciencey besides that are cool and something i should consider/enjoy that i might have never heard about?
Hello!
I'd say that potential majors are dictated by the specific areas of STEM that you're interested in. If you want to pursue a career in chemistry, you could consider:
-General Chemistry
-Environmental Chemistry
-Analytical Chemistry
-Biochemistry
-Forensic Chemistry
or
-Geologic Chemistry
If you're interested in an engineering/physics career, you might consider:
-Chemical Engineering
-Civil Engineering
-Mechanical Engineering
-General Physics
-Astrophysics
-Chemical Physics
or
-Engineering Physics
If you want to learn more about the human mind, I'd recommend:
-Psychology
-Neuroscience
-Engineering Psychology
or
-Sociology
Of course, all of these pathways have math involved, but if you want a more math-heavy major, try:
-Statistics
-Computer Science
-General Mathematics
or
-Applied Mathematics
Hope this is helpful! Have a great day!
Pretty much any engineering course is very STEM-related. If you want a lot of math, then Civil, Mechanical, and Biological Engineering are in that field.
