I have a 3.16 gpa I am a senior about to apply. I understand that my gpa is a little low but I took ap and honors courses last year as well as taking some this year, will this help me out with some of my reach schools such as South Florida?

Yes, it will, honors and AP courses will make your weighted GPA higher. Also getting a an A- in an AP class is way more impressive to colleges then a A in a standard class. Plus if the low GPA is mostly from freshman year, they may overlook parts of it.
