I am a sophomore in NYC trying to start planning for college early.
Major: Art or Architecture
Location: Mid-Atlantic or New England
Not really aiming for Top 20/Ivy League, preference towards small, liberal arts schools
Doesn’t need to be a specialized art school, but somewhere with a strong arts program
Main Concerns: Tuition, Location, best fit for my major
ECs: None freshman year, Art & Literary Magazine and Key Club (30 volunteer hours) this year, planning on applying to intern at the MET or MAD over the summer (2024), submitting art for the Scholastic Art Award next month (not sure what category yet), joining SGO Student Media next year
GPA: Not sure, but last year I had a 98.63 average
PLTW IED (college course) and Pre-AP World freshman year, WHAP and AP CSP this year, APUSH and (maybe) AP Lang junior year - not sure on what courses for junior and senior year because my school has a major system where I can pick between Media (Art) and Architectural Engineering (for either 2-year course, I’ll also get a CTE-endorsed diploma)
My current list is Wesleyan, URochester, Bryn Mawr, and SUNY Geneseo, I’ve basically ruled out Pratt and RISD because they’re too expensive, I take the PSAT next year (PSAT 10 in the Spring and official PSAT fall 2024) and I'm hoping to qualify as a nation merit scholar and do a QuestBridge application
I'm curious if you've checked these out and what you think!
(Also, it depends on what you want from colleges)
