I am a senior in Utah trying to find the right college for me.
I have been taking honors, AP, and CE almost any chance I could in my schooling lifetime.
I will receive my General Associates of Science from Weber State University before I graduate high school.
I have a 3.974 GPA, but a not as good ACT composite score of 24. However, I have only gotten A’s in my high school years with the exception of a couple A-‘s and a B+. I am ranked 55 out of the 527 students in my graduating class.
I have already applied to BYU, UVU, USU, and the U of U.
Is there anywhere else I should apply? I feel there may be a better college out there for me but am not very knowledgeable on very many colleges.
It would be fun to go out of state; however, I know that can usually cost more. (So with a little consideration to cost)
Thank you for reading! Honestly, anything information helps. If you are so kind, any other info you are willing to share about is amazing. Like scholarships, whether or not you think I should retake the ACT, and other recommendations. Thank You! ❤️
Edit: I also have no idea what I want to study in. I thought I liked Computer Science, but now hate it. A field of Engineering seems cool, but haven’t taken an classes to see how I like it yet.
First of all, you can apply undecided and chose a major once you've taken some college classes. Your major (and career) aren't set in stone now. Secondly, I did a quick search on CollegeVine's 'schools' page for target schools with good engineering programs and I found these:
- Lafayette College
- Southern Methodist University
- NC State (public)
- SUNY Stony Brook (public)
- UC Davis (public)
- George Washington University
These schools were targets/safeties for me, so you should definitely input your own stats for better results.
I recommend carving out some time to research potential careers in your areas of interest. Then use Big Future (Collegeboard) to plug in your preferences. Then it will list schools that fit your specifics. Very helpful in finding options.
I think just apply to some colleges that have higher acceptance rate cause your resume seems impressive.
