I am a senior graduating this year (2024) and I want to attend a 4-year college with a psychology major. Finding that in a college is easy, that tough part is I want to minor in Equine Management or behavior but I am struggling to find schools that list it as a program. I live in Wisconsin so I was originally narrowing my search to the states that I would qualify for in-state tuition in, but maybe I should broaden my options to meet all my criteria? I have looked at UW-River Falls, Iowa State, UW-Madison, and a few others but haven't felt confident at any of them.
if in state price help you you:
The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) allows students from participating Midwestern states to attend public colleges in other participating states at reduced tuition rates. Eligible students can enroll in participating institutions outside their home state and receive reduced tuition rates, often comparable to in-state prices. any schools in IN, KS, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, or WI, finely in oh has a great eq program!
Delaware Valley University has a lot of equine related majors...they have barns and horses and great equipment. If you check out their website, they have some videos walking you through the setup. I am personally planning on attending there for horticulture. The school is not elite or anything but they have a great focus on hands-on experience and training, which I find awesome. Also, because my stats are way above their average, I have a high chance of receiving big merit scholarships.
Here are some top equine minors if youre up for looking in around the country!
University of Louisville (catalog.louisville.edu/undergraduate/minors/equine-business-minor/)
University of West Virginia (horses.wvu.edu/)
The only student-run cooperative program at Earlham College (earlham.edu/academics/majors-minors-programs/equestrian-management/)
Penn State (agsci.psu.edu/academics/undergraduate/minors/equine-science)
Hope this helps!!!!
