Should I apply to Stanford?
Answered

I am a current junior who is editing their college list. Stanford is one of, if not the #1 school that I dream of attending. However, with school counselors and friends telling me not to apply, I’m not to sure where to stand. I will admit GPA is not within the average student that get accepted, and my transcript/grades are somewhat good but I really fumbled my sophomore year.

However, I feel extremely confident in the other aspects of my applications. I’ve been working on my essays for a while now, my extracurriculars definitely show many leadership qualities of mine, and I am in the process of adding more extracurriculars to my list. On top of that, I plan on taking the SAT this June and August.

It would be a dream to attend Stanford, but I am trying to be realistic and I am not sure if it is even worth applying

Withour having much detailed insight into your CV it will be heard to make an assessment but if you want to give it a chance then by all means apply with the best possible application that you can prepare. Only if you apply you will have a chance of getting accepted - however small it might be. If you give up and do not apply, then you will certainly not get in. But you will also never know if your application made them curious about you.

In other words: There is no harm in applying. The worst that can happen is not getting accepted. Not applying is not getting accepted for certain.
