So I have a 3.3ish GPA and a 970 SAT (without studying). I plan to retake the SAT and take the ACT before I finish my apps. I've only taken AP Lang and got a 4, and I'm currently signed up for 3 dual credit classes and AP Lit. I have a bunch of volunteer hours that probably range in the 200s. I'm super active in my local, district, and state 4H, local FFA chapter, HOSA chapter, and have organized tons of different CS projects. I also have a pretty good track record in archery and have the potential to be recruited.
The thing is my majors are SUUUUPER low volume. I want to double major in animal science and poultry science. Most colleges don't offer POSC, so instead of this I would major in ANSC and minor in something like microbio or chem.
My family are hardcore Texas A&M fans, and I used to be too, but recently I've been focusing more on Colorado State. If I get in to TAMU, I'll probably still go, but I just don't know if I'll have a good enough application.
Any recommendations for me to do before I send in my applications??
Good news: TAMU is a target for you!
You can apply test-optional if your scores aren't helping your chances (SAT: >1200, ACT: >24). As of now, besides taking the tests, the best thing you can do is focus on your classes to boost your GPA.
About your extracurriculars, they were a little vague in the post. Were you a key member or did you hold a leadership role in your community service organizations? Have you won any awards? Did you lead any impactful initiatives? Are you a recognized athlete in archery (if they have JV or a varsity team)? Did you publish any of your projects? If so, are there any impressive numbers (ie. views or downloads)? These questions will determine how strong your activities are for your application.
