About

I’m Dr. Carly Tribull, an Assistant Professor in Biology at Farmingdale State College (SUNY). I want to provide the “professor’s perspective” in admissions consulting and essay development by modeling our advisor-client relationship as one that will help you build the skills you’ll need to succeed in college: answering the “big” questions about yourself, time management, and intentionality. “Know thyself” is my guiding philosophy, and I help prospective students to address challenging questions about their passions, interests, fears, and navigating the expectations of their support network. Only after building that foundation can we plan an admissions journey and build exceptional and authentic essays. I can provide personal perspectives on the following: 1. Navigating passions that seem in conflict to choose the best school for you. I loved both biology and art in high school and dealt with competing pressures to choose one. Are you going through something similar? 2. Leveraging you...

My process

I take a holistic approach that helps clients to become more self-aware and answer some fundamental questions about themselves before delving into the admissions process. “Know thyself” is my guiding philosophy, and I help prospective students to address challenging questions about their passions, interests, fears, and navigating the expectations of their support network. Only after building that foundation can we plan an admissions journey and build exceptional and authentic essays. As a tenure-track biology professor, I can provide my clients with a unique perspective on common pitfalls I see in today’s freshman – a lack of planning skills, intrinsic motivation, and intentionality. I want to model the advisor-client relationship as one that teaches future college students skills in time management, communication, setting reasonable deadlines, and meeting them. I offer more than just college advice and essay editing services – I want to give my clients experience building the executive functioning skills I know they will need to succeed in their academic journey.

“I didn't know how to message you other than this. For the last 2 summers, junior year summer was spent Bethesda University in the admissions department and went campus visits in the US. In the senior summer, I interned at a curating firm, SUUM Project working on exhibitions. "

Tips for success
1. Prepare for your first session
Plan out the questions and topics you'd like to discuss. If you'd like to work together in the long term, discuss expectations for each other.
