About

Hello! My name is Alex Zotos and I've devoted my professional career to the field of college admissions counseling for nearly a decade. Since graduating from Providence College, I have worked in college admissions at three unique institutions across the New England area, including at the University of Rhode Island, Merrimack College, and Colby College. At Colby, I served as a Director of Admissions for Partnerships and Access where I helped to launch an early college readiness program with eighth grade students across the state of Maine. I've also had the opportunity to sit in on various admissions committees and have direct insight into the types of factors that selective colleges are weighing when crafting an incoming freshman class.

In 2020 I "hopped sides of the desk" and transitioned to college counseling as I sought to help students and families navigate the ever changing admissions landscape in the United States. In my current role, I serve as an Assistant Director of College ...

My process

As an advisor, my goal is to help students and families approach this process with a great level of organization and ease (and also some humor when needed!). This includes developing a list of "best fit" colleges for the student, creating an "early game plan" for Early Action and Early Decision, reviewing supplemental and personal essays, and assisting with financial aid planning. Most importantly, my goal is to help students gain the confidence and tools needed to advocate for themselves during this transformative process.

Tips for success
1. Prepare for your first session
Plan out the questions and topics you'd like to discuss. If you'd like to work together in the long term, discuss expectations for each other.
