My process
I fully recognize how complex this process can be from a student and family perspective, as well as the crucial role affordability plays for so many. My passion is to help guide young people toward identifying their strengths, while providing them with the practical knowledge and support to help them set and reach academic, educational, and career goals. I facilitate honest communication of how a college list relates to not only admissions chances, but also financial outcomes. I consider myself close to "expert" level on all things finances: Net Price Calculators, the FAFSA, CSS Profile and required forms, navigating them as a separated or divorced family, how to create a financially balanced college list, how merit-based aid works and who has it, and how need-based aid actually works (especially at "meet full need" schools), student and parent loans, and how to find outside scholarships.
I also have a strong interest in awareness and dialogue around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, whether related to race, class, family background, LGBTQ+, first-generation in the U.S., first gen to college, or otherwise. I’ve been fortunate to work with a huge variety populations and am currently at a school that prioritizes diversity and social justice as much as possible. I appreciate honest and direct conversations on these topics.
