IU Bloomington Housing Application Process

Hey everyone, I just got accepted to Indiana University Bloomington. Super excited but also a little lost about the housing application process. Anyone got any tips or can explain the process to me?

Congrats on your acceptance to Indiana University Bloomington! The housing application can seem a little daunting at first, but I assure you it's a straightforward process.

Before you start, make sure that you have your university user ID and passphrase as you'll need it to log in to the housing portal. Also, remember to have your university ID number and a valid credit card for the $200 application fee. If you don’t have this information yet, you should be receiving it from the university soon.

Alright, here's a step-by-step rundown of the process:

1. Log in to the IU housing portal. You should easily find this on the university's website.

2. Fill out your personal information where required.

3. You'll be asked to input your preferences for things like room type (single, double, triple, etc.), residence hall, and meal plans.

4. The application also includes a section for Living Learning Communities (LLCs). If you’re interested in living with a group of people who share your major, career interest, or lifestyle, look into this.

5. You’ll also be given the option of selecting a roommate. If you don't have someone in mind, no worries, you can choose to be matched with someone based on your lifestyle habits which you'll be asked about in the application.

6. After completing the application, you'll be asked to pay a $200 application fee. This is non-refundable and must be paid via credit card.

7. After your application is submitted, Housing Assignments staff will assign your space based on your preferences, the date you apply, and space availability.

Remember, the earlier you submit your application, the higher your chances of getting your preferred choices. Most housing assignments are sent out in late July or early August.

Hope this helps & best of luck with your housing application!
