Benefits of taking Spanish courses in high school for college apps?

Hola amigos, as someone aiming to showcase my language skills, I'm currently enrolled in Spanish 1 and wondering if continuing to Spanish 2 or higher will significantly bolster my college applications? Also, would online Spanish courses be viewed differently by admissions offices compared to traditional in-person classes?

Continuing with Spanish beyond your initial course can be an excellent way to strengthen your applications, as many colleges look for students who demonstrate commitment and growth in their interests. Taking Spanish 2 and higher will show an admissions committee your willingness to challenge yourself and improve your skills over time. Generally, colleges are looking for at least 2-3 years of language study, and higher levels can be particularly impressive.

As for the format of the courses, online classes are increasingly respected and can provide flexible scheduling, but in-person classes may offer more interactive opportunities for language practice. Colleges typically understand that different formats can still provide a rigorous and meaningful educational experience, especially given the prevalence of online learning recently. So whether online or in-person, staying dedicated to your language studies and aiming for advanced classes will be viewed positively.
