What are the best colleges for military students?

I'm interested in both service and higher education, and I'd like to know more about colleges that excellently cater to military students. Can anyone share their experiences or recommendations of such institutions? Thanks!

Absolutely, connecting military service with higher education is a great pathway that a number of institutions are well-prepared to support. Here are a few schools known for their services and programs for military students:

1. The United States Service Academies include the United States Military Academy (West Point), the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Coast Guard Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. These schools not only offer top-notch education, but also a direct path to a career in the military.

2. Norwich University is a private university in Vermont that is home to the Corps of Cadets, a military lifestyle program integrated into the college experience. Norwich University offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, all of which feature leadership training and support for military students.

3. University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) offers numerous online programs designed for military students. UMGC has a special Military Advising Team to assist students who are active duty, reserves, veterans, or military spouses.

4. The University of North Georgia offers the Corps of Cadets program, and the institution is one of America's six Senior Military Colleges. UNG has an exceptional track record of commissioning military officers upon graduation.

5. Colorado State University boasts a New Start for Student Veterans program where they assist veterans with transitioning to the academic environment, among other services designed for military students.

6. Syracuse University has an Office of Veteran and Military Affairs and hosts the annual Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) conference.

These are just a few examples. Be sure to check the VA's GI Bill Comparison Tool to see what kind of financial aid is available at these and other institutions. Additionally, you should prioritize schools that participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which can provide extra financial assistance beyond the standard GI Bill benefits.
