Art Colleges with Programs for Military Personnel

Hey, I have this question because my passion for art continues even as I serve, I'm in the military and looking forward to exploring my creative side, too. Do you know of any art colleges that offer programs or allowances for those of us enlisted? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are several art colleges and universities with robust art programs that are both veteran-friendly and participate in the national Yellow Ribbon Program. This program can help cover authentic college tuition and fees that the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn't cover. Here are a few of these schools:

1. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, providing additional funds to veterans and eliminating any out-of-pocket tuition expenses for qualified students.

2. Pratt Institute in New York is another school that proudly supports the Yellow Ribbon Program. It's recognized for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for veteran students.

3. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Besides, they offer a comprehensive range of art and design programs.

4. The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is another excellent institution that not only provides a top-ranked art program but is also a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Remember to inquire about each institution's specific programs to find the best fit for you. Also, not all benefits may apply to every military personnel as it can depend on the length of service, duty status, and other factors, so it’s crucial to understand what you qualify for under the GI Bill.

Side note: If you're interested in online learning, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) offers well-regarded e-Learning programs in various fields of art and might be a good match for you.

Definitely contact the school’s Veterans Office or Financial Aid department for more precise details. It's wonderful to hear that you're planning to continue pursuing your passion for art while serving. Best of luck in your educational journey!
