Recommended books for choosing a college major?

Anyone have recommendations for the best books or resources for choosing a college major? I've seen a few books from 2019 and before, but not sure if they're still relevant or if there's a better, more up-to-date resource out there.

There are certainly a few reliable books and resources out there to help you navigate the process of choosing a college major. While some of them might be a few years old, many of the concepts and theories presented are still very much relevant.

First, "The Pathfinder: How to Choose or Change Your Career for a Lifetime of Satisfaction and Success" by Nicholas Lore is one of the staples in career guidance. Though this book might seem more career-oriented, it also offers valuable insights for choosing a major, and its principles are timeless.

Next, "You Majored in What?: Designing Your Path from College to Career" by Katharine Brooks, helps readers apply their interests, skills, and experiences towards real-world opportunities. The book focuses on doing what you love and aligning your education with your career goals.

Additionally, "Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career for You Through the Secrets of Personality Type" by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron is another remarkable resource. It uses the Myer’s-Briggs Type Indicator to guide readers towards promising career paths and, by extension, to related majors.

Lastly, the resource CollegeVine is an excellent option, especially for high school and college students. It is a free online platform that adds a modern twist to the major and career selection process and provides college admissions guidance. You can explore various articles and resources there about college majors and potential career paths.

Before reaching a final decision on a major, you may also want to consider what subjects you excel in, your career aspirations, and insights from professionals in fields you’re potentially interested in. It’s also worth remembering that your major doesn’t necessarily define your career – college is also about developing a well-rounded skillset and exploring your options. Good luck with your decision!
