Need Advice: Best Colleges for an Economics Major?

Hi guys, I found out that I really enjoy Economics and have decided to major in it but I have no idea what colleges to apply to. Can anyone recommend some colleges with strong Economics programs?

Sure, happy to help with your question. There are a variety of colleges known for their strong Economics programs, both public and private.

Starting with private institutions, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Stanford University all have renowned undergraduate Economics programs with faculty who are leading experts in the field. Their programs offer a variety of research opportunities and industry connections for students.

For public colleges, the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) and the University of Michigan (UMich) have well-respected Economics departments. The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) also have strong Economics programs that are widely recognized.

While these schools are all highly selective, they represent only a fraction of strong Economics programs out there. Colleges like Boston University, University of Maryland, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Ohio State University offer strong programs as well.

This list is by no means exhaustive and the perfect school might depend on your specific interests within Economics (for instance, Interational Economics, Environmental Economics, or Behavioral Economics). Do take some time to research these departments to get a sense of what each offers in terms of curriculum, faculty, research opportunities, and career outcomes.

Good luck with your college search and applications!
