Thoughts on taking Principles of Entrepreneurship in high school for college apps?

For juniors and seniors at my school, there's an option to take a Principles of Entrepreneurship class. Would colleges see this as a rigorous elective? Interested in hearing whether it's helped anyone stand out in their applications.

It's great that you're considering how your elective choices can impact your college applications!

While Principles of Entrepreneurship might not be categorized as one of the traditional rigorous courses like AP or IB classes, it can still be a valuable part of your academic profile, especially if you are interested in a business-related field, taking this class shows initiative and a desire to deepen your understanding of important concepts in entrepreneurship.

Moreover, if you're able to tie in this course with related extracurricular activities or personal projects, it can create a strong narrative for your application that demonstrates a genuine interest and a proactive attitude toward learning.

For instance, if you start a small business, engage in a startup competition, or participate in business-related clubs, you'll not just learn from this class but also apply and expand that knowledge outside the classroom, which colleges do notice.

Keep in mind the balance of your entire course load and try to maintain a challenging curriculum to show admissions officers your academic preparedness for college-level work.
