What are the most “outdoorsy” colleges?

Hi all, I'm an avid hiker and love spending time in nature. I think I'd thrive in a college where there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. Could anyone suggest any colleges that are known for their outdoor scene, camping trips, hiking clubs, etc? Thanks guys!

Sure, I'm happy to suggest a few!

1. University of Colorado Boulder: Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, it offers a spectacular geographic location for a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, rock climbing, and biking. The university also has a strong Outing Club.

2. Dartmouth College: Dartmouth's location in Hanover, New Hampshire offers many opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and skiing. Plus, they have a tradition for all first-year students called "Trips" which is a five-day outdoor orientation program.

3. University of North Carolina at Asheville: It's located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which are renowned for their beauty and outdoor activities. The Outdoor Programs office at UNCA offers outdoor trips and workshops for students to engage with their surrounding environment.

4. Appalachian State University: Appalachian is located in Boone, NC, right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This location provides a wealth of recreational opportunities!

5. University of Utah: Located in Salt Lake City, students have quick access to numerous outdoor locations, including seven different ski resorts.

6. Middlebury College: Its campus in rural Vermont offers opportunity for various outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, and skiing. They have a Mountain Club which organizes several outdoor trips.

7. University of Vermont: Also in Vermont, this school provides ample opportunities for outdoor adventures including hiking, skiing, and snowboarding in the surrounding Green Mountains.

All these universities embrace their unique geographical locations and incorporate the outdoor experience into college life. I hope this helps!
