NU Military College Insight Request

I'm considering applying to NU Military College post-graduation, but finding substantial information about it is a tad tricky. Can anyone share their experiences or insights about this institution? What's the education and military training like there?

Norwich University, often referred to as NU, offers a unique blend of civilian and Corps of Cadets experiences which foster their motto of "Expect Challenge. Achieve Distinction." As a senior military college, NU blends a military lifestyle with a civilian college experience, which may involve waking up early for physical training, attending classes in uniform, and learning military customs and courtesies while also studying traditional academic subjects.

Academically, Norwich offers a mix of liberal arts and professional programs across a range of disciplines. These include popular majors like criminal justice, mechanical engineering, and nursing. Many students appreciate the small class sizes, as they allow for personal interaction with professors and focused, hands-on learning.

In terms of military training, NU utilizes a structured leadership development program through their Corps of Cadets. As a cadet, you'll participate in physical fitness training, military studies, and leadership studies. The training is designed to develop quality leaders who are effective citizens. One notable aspect of NU's military program is their commitment to developing ethical leaders. This is fathered through an emphasis on integrity, responsibility and discipline both within and outside the classroom.

Socially, NU fosters a tight-knit community with a number of clubs, organizations, and athletics that allow students to pursue their interests outside academics. The campus is located in Northfield, Vermont, offering abundant opportunities for outdoor activities and experiences.

However, do keep in mind that life at a senior military college is not for everyone. It can be physically and mentally demanding, with strict discipline and rigorous schedules. It's best advised to visit campus, connect with current students or alum, and thoroughly reflect upon this lifestyle and commit before applying.

Lastly, post-graduation, many NU students enlist or commission into their desired military branch, but a military commitment is not required after graduation. NU also has a strong alumni network, which can be advantageous for job hunting or establishing professional connections.
