How much does college aesthetics factor in?

Hey guys, I was looking at some of the most beautiful colleges in the world online and I've noticed that I'm strangely drawn to places which have a gorgeous campus. I've heard that one must concentrate more on academics and opportunities than look, but can't ignore that I'm affected by it. Do you think it's okay to consider a college's aesthetics heavily in my decision-making? Can it affect my college life significantly?

While it's valid to be drawn to a beautiful campus, aesthetics should not be your primary criteria for selecting a college. That said, it is okay to consider it as one of many factors. A campus you find appealing might make you feel comfortable and happy, which can indirectly contribute to your academic success and overall well-being.

Think about how the physical environment of a campus might impact your day-to-day life. If a beautifully landscaped, serene environment inspires you to study and relax, it might contribute positively to your college experience. Alternatively, an urban campus with its hustle and bustle might energize some students and contribute to their productivity.

However, keep in mind that aesthetics can't compensate for factors like academic rigor, availability of major-specific resources, a supportive and diverse community, campus culture, and career opportunities. These should take precedence in your decision-making process.

Also remember that 'beauty' is subjective and goes beyond just the physical appearance of a campus. It could be the beauty of the institution's traditions, values, or the strength of the community.

So, while you should definitely consider aesthetics, strive for a balance. Make sure you're not compromising on key academic and career-related factors simply for a beautiful view. But at the same time, it's your college journey, and if a beautiful campus contributes to your happiness and motivation, it's definitely worth considering.

Remember, the ultimate goal is to choose a college where you think you'll thrive acadically while feeling comfortable and happy.
