Which colleges are known for having the least expensive application fees?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior in high school and I've been researching colleges that I would be interested in applying to. The application fees for some colleges are really draining my wallet though, and I'm on the hunt for more affordable options. Can anyone share any knowledge on which colleges are known for having unusually low application fees?

There are actually quite a few colleges with relatively low application fees, and more and more colleges are even going as far as to waive their application fees entirely! To give you some examples:

- Carleton College, located in Minnesota, is one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country and they only have an application fee of $0. Yes, that's right, zero!

- Many well-regarded institutions like Loyola University Chicago have many accessible fee waiver options, like completing online or on-campus visits and being a first-generation college student or veteran, among other options.

- Public universities are increasingly doing away with their application fees, like Southern Arkansas University and University of Alaska, Anchorage.

Remember to keep in mind that, in addition to the usual application fees, some schools may have additional costs associated with applying. This is particularly common for specialized programs.

Finally, if the costs associated with applying to colleges are truly burdensome, know that many colleges offer fee waivers for students demonstrating financial need or hardship. You can typically request a waiver directly through the college's admissions office. It's worth checking this option out if the costs are a significant hurdle for you. Your school counselor may also have advice or resources to help you with this.
