Least Liked Courses in College Interviews?

I was wondering, in college interviews, what are typically the least favored or most disliked courses by students? Might help me steer clear or be prepared if I need to take them.

While certainly, each school's students would have their perspective on this, and personal interest and aptitude play a huge role in what classes you'll find challenging or enjoyable, there are several types of courses that commonly come up in discussions as being tough or not favored by students, in general.

One field that comes to mind is introductory or general education classes in math and science, especially calculus and organic chemistry. These courses can be challenging and usually have high workloads, which can be why they're sometimes disliked. However, they can also be critically important for certain majors, like engineering or pre-med, so it isn't something you can neglect if that's your intended pathway.

Foreign language classes can also sometimes be tough, especially for students who are only taking them to fulfill a graduation requirement and not out of genuine interest. This could be because these classes often require consistent practice and immersion to grasp the subject matter.

Another common type of course students sometimes struggle with is large lecture-style classes. These classes can sometimes make it hard to form relationships with professors and get personalized attention and can feel rather impersonal.

While it's fine to consider this, I would encourage you to approach courses with an open mind, regardless of their reputation. Your experience in a class will oftentimes depend on how much effort you put in, the professor's teaching style, and the resources you use to help you understand the material. It's also vital to remember that sometimes the most challenging classes can end up being the most rewarding, once all is said and done!
