Advice on Choosing Least Selective Colleges in Florida

Hey all! I've been feeling the pressure of college admissions, and while I have my eyes on some more competitive schools, I'm also considering some 'safety' schools. Can anyone share some insights on the least selective colleges in Florida? I'm not too concerned with prestige, just looking for a good community and some solid programs. Thanks in advance!

Absolutely, I'd be happy to provide some insights about less selective colleges in Florida that still offer a great community and strong programs.

1. Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU): FAMU is a historically Black university that has a welcoming community and offers a variety of strong programs, particularly in the health sciences and business.

2. University of North Florida (UNF): Known for its beautiful campus and smaller class sizes, UNF offers a strong nursing program, and its college of education has received high praise. Plus, being located in Jacksonville gives students lots of opportunities for internships and jobs.

3. Florida Atlantic University (FAU): Located in Boca Raton, FAU is known for its strong programs in business, engineering, and nursing. It's near the beach which contributes to a great community vibe.

4. University of West Florida (UWF): This school is situated in Pensacola and offers a variety of majors. Their programs in education and health are quite acclaimed. Their campus community is tight-knit and supportive, offering a large number of clubs and activities.

5. Florida International University (FIU): Based in Miami, this university is less selective and has a large and diverse student body. They provide a broad range of programs, and their hospitality and engineering programs are particularly strong.

Remember to look past just selectivity rates when choosing a college. Take a look at the school's values, the opportunities available to students, the culture of the campus, and its location. And don't forget to visit if you can -- there's no substitute for setting foot on a campus to really sense if it's the right fit for you. Good luck!
