Choosing Majors at Ithaca: Least Competitive?

Hey there folks! I'm looking at Ithaca College but I'm not completely decided on my major yet. Can anyone share what are the least competitive majors at Ithaca? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! While it's quite tricky to determine the "least competitive" majors based on admission rate alone (since colleges often aren't completely transparent about admission rates by department or major), we can certainly look at the less populated programs. Majors with fewer students can sometimes be less competitive, although not always.

At Ithaca College, some of the smallest programs include Anthropology, Art History, German Area Studies, and Speech Language Pathology & Audiology. These areas of study have smaller student populations and might therefore have less competition.

However, remember that the major you choose has a significant influence on your college experience, so choosing based on the size of the program or its competitiveness might not be the best strategy. If you're truly unsure about your major, Ithaca College also offers an Exploratory Program, where you can start taking a wide range of classes before officially declaring a major.

Ideally, you should be aiming for a program where you're genuinely interested in the coursework and potential career paths. That passion and enthusiasm will shine through in your application, and quite likely make the admissions process less stressful and more enjoyable for you. Also, the college experience is not just about competition; it's also about the experience of learning and growing in an area that truly interests you.

Hope this helps! Best of luck with your decision-making process!
