Can the military cover college costs without tuition assistance?

I was checking out the military as an option, but I've heard some stuff about not every branch offering Tuition Assistance. If that's the case, are there any other ways the military could help me fund my college education?

Absolutely! There are several programs and benefits in the military that can assist service members with their college education costs, even without explicitly using Tuition Assistance. One of the most significant is the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

With the Post-9/11 GI Bill, if you serve at least 36 months, you can get up to the full cost of in-state tuition and fees at public colleges, or up to $26,042.81 per year at private or foreign colleges. Plus, you might be eligible for a housing allowance and a $1000 stipend for books and supplies.

Another option is the Montgomery GI Bill, which provides a flat educational assistance benefit for up to 36 months, based on the type and length of your service. As of October 2021, it can provide up to $2,122 a month for people who serve for three years or more.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is another beneficial program. If you're attending an expensive private school or out-of-state school, this can make up the difference between what the Post-9/11 GI Bill covers and what the school charges.

Keep in mind that the benefits can change over time, so you'll want to review current information as you're making your decision. Remember that each branch of the military has its own specific requirements and benefits, so it's best to talk with a recruiter about your personal situation. They can provide the most accurate and up-to-date information.
