I'm a pretty avid basketball player and I've been wanting to learn more about colleges with the best basketball programs, not necessarily just division 1. I'm focusing on where I could potentially play or at least where I can follow some great games. Can anyone suggest schools known for their basketball prowess?
There are quite a few colleges known for having strong basketball programs across the different divisions, so you'll have plenty to choose from!
Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are renowned for their Division I teams. They have a long-standing rivalry that's famous in collegiate sports.
Villanova University and Gonzaga University also have significant reputations in Division I basketball. Gonzaga, particularly, is known for being a mid-major powerhouse, meaning it's not in one of the "Power Five" conferences but still consistently competes at a high level.
In Division II, schools such as Bellarmine University and Northwest Missouri State University have excellent programs. Bellarmine, in particular, transitioned to Division I in 2020 after a very successful run in Division II.
