Yo! Working my way through the application process for Boston University and I can't find any solid info on their requirement for letters of recommendation. How many do they need and do they prefer certain teachers or mentors more than others? Would appreciate some advice, gracias!
Hi there! For Boston University admissions, you're expected to provide two letters of recommendation. One should be from a classroom teacher who has taught you in a core academic subject. The subjects considered as "core" are English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Languages.
The other letter should come from your school counselor. However, if this isn't possible, BU will also accept a letter from a school administrator or another teacher of a different core academic subject. Be sure to choose recommenders who know you well and can provide specific examples of your intellectual curiosity, commitment to community service, leadership skills, or other traits that will shine a light on your unique personality and potential!
Just one note - these teachers or your counselor can submit their letters via the Common App or Coalition App platforms, so make sure they're aware of the steps. No additional letter of recommendations will be accepted or considered in their review process, aside from the two required ones.
Remember, it's important to ask these people for recommendations well in advance of the application deadline to give them enough time to write a quality letter. Good luck with the application process!
