Has anyone taken the CLEP Chemistry exam?

Hey everyone, I’m a junior and I’m thinking about taking the CLEP Chemistry exam to possibly get some college credits and save on tuition. How did you prep for it, and did you find it was worth the effort? Also, what resources did you use aside from the official study guide?

Hello! Given the usefulness CLEP scores can have for students, I absolutely understand your interest in this option. I recommend using a mixture of resources to prepare, including the official CLEP study guide, online practice questions, and chemistry textbooks you can find at school or in local libraries. Dedicate a few hours each week over the course of a couple of months to review content and take practice exams.

I also suggest finding a study group or a tutor if there are areas that you find particularly challenging. This approach will not only prepare you for the CLEP exam, but will also reinforce your understanding of chemistry, which can be invaluable in your future college coursework.

It's an investment of time, but if you're committed and use varied resources to cover all the material, it can certainly be worth the effort—especially when it translates into college credits! Just remember to check with the colleges you're interested in attending to make sure they accept CLEP credits for the course you're targeting. Good luck on your preparation journey!
