Does anyone know which HBCUs have strong architecture programs?

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to research colleges, and I’m getting seriously interested in attending an HBCU. I want to pursue a degree in architecture, and I was hoping some of you might have insights or experiences with architecture programs at HBCUs. Which ones are known for their academics in this field, and do any of them have notable facilities or internships that hook up with firms?

When looking for HBCUs with strong architecture programs, two institutions stand out: Howard University and Hampton University. Howard offers a Bachelor of Architecture that is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is a crucial accreditation for any architecture program. Their curriculum is rich and includes philosophical, practical, and technical aspects of architecture. The school also boasts connections with several firms in Washington D.C., which may provide internship opportunities.

Hampton University is another HBCU with a NAAB-accredited architecture program. Students here also benefit from practical experience and have access to The Hampton University Architecture Project Shop which is a state-of-the-art facility highlighting sustainable design and research. For both schools, course rigor, design studio work, and internships are substantial factors within their programs. It's advisable to reach out to the respective departments to learn more about specific opportunities for hands-on work or partnerships with architecture firms. Make sure to inquire about the support they can offer in terms of professional development, and consider visiting the campuses if possible to see the facilities firsthand and talk to current students about their experiences.
