Feeling Overwhelmed: Is it normal to dislike university?

I'm currently in my first year, and I'm struggling to adjust. I honestly just don't like university right now—is this a normal feeling? How do I get past this? I don't want to make any hasty decisions and regret dropping out, but I'm also not sure if I'm just in the wrong place. Has anyone else felt this way?

Absolutely, it's quite common to feel overwhelmed during your first year. The transition from high school to university is a significant change, and it takes time to adapt to the new environment, expectations, and social dynamics. Remember, you're not alone in how you're feeling, and it's okay to take time to find your footing.

One strategy to get past this is to get involved in campus activities or clubs that align with your interests. This can help you to make connections and build a support system. Also, don't hesitate to reach out to mental health resources and counseling services offered by your university; they can offer strategies to manage these feelings.

And importantly, give it some time. It's often towards the end of the first year or the beginning of the second that many students start to find their rhythm. Keep exploring different classes and groups until you find your niche. But, if you still feel out of place after giving it a fair shot and utilizing resources, there's no shame in reassessing your situation. Just ensure that any decision you make is well thought out and consider the long-term consequences. Hang in there!
