Are there fellowship opportunities specifically for HBCU students in animation?

So I heard that some companies offer fellowships for HBCU students and I'm super into animation. Does anyone know if companies like DreamWorks have any fellowship programs specifically for HBCU students? Looking for opportunities to break into the industry and would love to find something that aligns with my background.

Absolutely, it's fantastic that you're seeking out such specific opportunities in animation! Companies and studios in the entertainment industry often have initiatives dedicated to increasing diversity, including support for students from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

For instance, Nickelodeon offers the Nick Animation Writing Program, which is dedicated to diversity. Although it's not exclusive to HBCUs, it may include targeted outreach to such institutions.

DreamWorks Animation specifically has been known to partner with educational institutions and organizations to provide opportunities for students interested in animation. However, these opportunities can change from year to year, so the best approach would be to directly check their careers page or reach out to their HR or talent acquisition team for the most current information.

Additionally, keep an eye on professional organizations like the Animation Guild and websites that focus on diversity in the arts. Often, these platforms will feature fellowships or internships exclusive to minority students. Networking with professionals in the industry and joining groups that cater to diversity in animation can further increase your chances of finding such opportunities, so if you see an event being hosted at your school that relates to these interests of yours, make sure to carve out the time to go!

Keep chasing your dreams and good luck!
