Which college campuses are known for physical fitness?

So I'm a health nut and when I go off to college, I really want to be in a place where physical fitness is a big deal. Are there campuses known for being particularly fit? How could I find this information out? Thanks in advance!

There are several colleges well-known for promoting health and wellness as part of their campus culture. Here are some examples:

1. University of Florida: They have the Southwest Recreation Center and Student Recreation and Fitness Center that offers space for a variety of activities. Florida also has numerous intramural and club sports.

2. Ohio State University: This school boasts the Recreation and Physical Activity Center and the Adventure Recreation Center, which offer numerous fitness opportunities. They also have a robust intramural sports program.

3. University of Texas at Austin: UT has multiple top-notch rec facilities and consistently ranks high for student athletic participation. The University also hosts Longhorn Run, a campus-wide 5K and 10K race.

4. University of California, Los Angeles: UCLA not only offers top-tier athletic facilities but is also located in a city known for its focus on health and wellness. Its location allows for numerous outdoor recreational activities like hiking.

5. University of Colorado Boulder: Boulder is frequently lauded as one of the fittest cities in America, and CU Boulder’s campus reflects that. The university has a recreation center with a climbing gym, ice rink, and lots of equipment.

As for finding out about a campus's fitness culture, here are a few strategies:

- Campus visit (if possible): Seeing the fitness facilities and witnessing the overall atmosphere in person can be an effective way to gauge the fitness culture.

- College websites: Most universities have information about their recreation centers, sports clubs, and intramural sports on their official websites.

- Talk to current students: You might have to dig a little deeper for this, but talking to current students can give you insights that you won't find in official sources.

Remember, while these campuses are known for a fitness-oriented culture, any large university you attend will likely have ample resources for physical fitness and recreational sports.
