Most LGBT Friendly Colleges in NYC

I'm a junior and as I'm starting to research colleges, I'm wondering if any of you guys know which colleges in NYC might be particularly LGBT+ friendly? I'd love to learn more about the schools where I can confidently express myself and also enjoy the city life that NYC offers. Thanks in advance!

Certainly, New York City is known for its vibrant and expressive LGBTQ+ community, and there are several colleges in NYC that reflect these inclusive values.

Columbia University, for instance, has the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) which runs several programs focused on LGBTQ+ community support. The OMA also coordinates the annual Queer Awareness Month. Additionally, Columbia has several queer student organizations catering to different areas of interest, ranging from queer activism to queer people of color.

New York University (NYU), located in Greenwich Village near the historic Stonewall Inn, has a reputation for being extremely LGBTQ+-friendly. Its LGBTQ+ Center offers a welcoming space for students and runs several programs and events. NYU has an inclusive housing policy, focused on providing residential spaces that affirm all gender identities.

The New School is another college known for its diversity and inclusiveness. It has a social justice committee and dedicated resources for the queer community. In fact, their 'Queer Collective' plays an active role in organizing events to promote awareness and inclusivity.

Furthermore, City University of New York (CUNY) has LGBTQ+ centers on its campuses that offer resources, advocacy, and support for the queer community. Many of its campuses also have clubs and organizations dedicated to promoting queer rights and inclusivity.

It's always a good idea to reach out to the admissions offices of these schools for more details on their LGBTQ+ networks; or consider visiting campus, if possible, to understand the atmosphere first-hand. You could also contact current students or recent alumni from these schools (through LinkedIn, for example), for their experience and insights.

Hope this helps and wish you the best in your college search!
