Hi everyone, recently saw an HBCU make an appearance on Shark Tank, and it got me thinking about the entrepreneurial opportunities at these colleges. Can anyone share their experience with HBCUs fostering entrepreneurship, and perhaps what sort of support or exposure students get to the business world?
Hello! Seeing an HBCU on 'Shark Tank' is always exciting. Many of these institutions have business incubators and entrepreneurship programs specifically designed to support and mentor young business owners. Often, your professors will have real-world business experience, and can use their connections to organize pitch competitions with real companies, which is great for exposure.
HBCUs also often have strong, loyal alumni networks which are usually highly invested in the success of current students, so you should have plenty of opportunities to connect with graduates who've gone on to become successful entrepreneurs. This relationship with alumni can be really valuable when starting a business, as you'll have both mentorship and potential investment opportunities.
Hope this provides a bit of insight into HBCUs and entrepreneurship!
