Can you apply ED to one college and EA to another?

I've been trying to strategize my college applications and I’m curious if it’s possible to apply via Early Decision to one school and Early Action to others at the same time. Is that allowed, or are there rules against it? Just want to make sure I'm not violating any agreements. Thanks for the help!

Absolutely, you can apply Early Decision (ED) to one college and Early Action (EA) to others simultaneously. The only catch is you must understand and respect the binding commitment that comes with ED—if you get in, you're expected to attend and withdraw all your other applications. EA, on the other hand, isn't binding. You can still weigh your options and make a decision by the regular decision deadline.

However, be cautious of Single-Choice Early Action (SCEA) or Restrictive Early Action (REA) policies that some schools have which might limit your ability to apply EA to other colleges. Always check the specific policies of each college you're considering to ensure you're following their guidelines.

Remember, applying ED can increase your chances a bit since it shows the school that you’re fully committed. If you have your heart set on the ED school and your application is strong, it could be a strategic move. Just make sure it's really your top choice and that you've thought about the financial aspect, as you won't be able to compare financial aid offers.
