Certainly, there are many universities on the West Coast known for their generous financial aid practices.

Starting with Stanford University, known for one of the nation's most generous financial aid programs. If your family's annual income is less than $125,000, you'll typically pay no tuition. Further, if it's less than $60,000, you're generally not expected to contribute towards room and board.

Next, all of the University of California schools have the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan. Under this plan, if you're a California resident and your family's annual income is under $80,000, your systemwide tuition and fees will be fully covered by scholarships and grants.

Pomona College, located in Claremont, California, also has a strong commitment to financial aid. The college practices need-blind admissions for all applicants and pledges to meet 100% of demonstrated need for all admitted students, making the college affordable for all students regardless of their financial background.

Reed College in Portland, Oregon, while no quite as generous as the aforementioned institutions, commits to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students and their average aid award is quite high.

Last but not least, University of Southern California (USC) overhauled its financial aid policies in 2020. They introduced free tuition for families earning $80,000 a year or less, which could dramatically reduce costs for lower-middle and middle-income families.

It's crucial to remember that these programs typically depend on your family income. Thus, it's always a good idea to use the Net Price Calculator on each college's website to get a better estimation of your potential financial aid package. Furthermore, many scholarships are available both within and outside of these institutions, on regional or national levels, so keep an eye on those to lower the financial burden.
