Which colleges get a sea of applications?

Just a quick question popping out of pure curiosity here. Does anyone know which colleges tend to receive the most applications each year? Just wondering about the competition level, y'know.

Several colleges receive a high number of applications each year. Here are a few notable ones:

1. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is known to get a large influx of applications every year - often topping the chart as the most applied-to university in the United States.

2. the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) also receives a significant number, as do other institutions in the UC system including UC Davis and UC Irvine.

3. Outside of the UC system, universities such as New York University (NYU) and the University of Southern California (USC) also receive a lot of applications.

4. For private institutions, Stanford University and Harvard University draw large application pools each year due to their prestige.

The caveat here, of course, is that the number of applications does not directly reflect the competitiveness of a school. Application numbers can be inflated by different factors such as waived application fees, common applications, or large undergraduate populations. Also, remember that each application is considered on its merits, so more applications don't necessarily mean a lower chance of acceptance for a qualified candidate. It's always advised to focus on the quality of your application and align it with the school's values and mission rather than getting overwhelmed by the number of applications a school receives.
