Most popular classes in high school?

As a curious upcoming junior, I'm wondering what the most common and popular classes high school students take are? Maybe I could get some inspiration for my own schedule.

The lineup of the classes taken in high school usually depends on the school curriculum, student's interests, and the academic and post-high school plans of the student. However, some commonly taken core and elective subjects include:

1. Core Subjects: These are essential subjects every student must undertake. They usually include English (English I, II, III, and IV), Math (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus or Calculus), Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics), and Social Studies (World History, US History, US Government, and Economics).

2. Foreign Languages: Spanish, French, and German tend to be the most popular. However, Mandarin, Japanese, and Latin are becoming increasingly popular in many schools.

3. Fine Arts: Encompassing a wide variety of subjects from visual arts to music classes such as band, choir, or orchestra. Drama or theatre arts are also quite popular.

4. Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Classes: These are advanced level courses that many high school students take to earn college credit. AP English Literature, AP US History, AP Calculus, IB History, IB English, and IB Biology are some popular examples.

5. Vocational or CTE (Career and Technical Education) Classes: Courses like Computer Science, Graphic Design, Culinary Arts, Automotive Services, or Business Management are quite popular.

6. Health and Physical Education: Students often take courses on Health, Physical Fitness, or even Team Sports.

7. Psychology/Sociology: Many high schools offer introductory courses in these subjects.

Remember, the classes you select should be aligned with your academic interests and future goals, rather than simply popularity. It's worth exploring different areas that interest you and discussing your options with your school counselor or teachers.
