Is Early Action to multiple colleges allowed?

Hey guys, I'm in the midst of planning my college applications and I’m a bit confused about the early application process. I know there are restrictions with Early Decision, but can I apply Early Action to more than one school or is there a limit? Don't want to mess this up. Thanks for the help!

Hey there, I'm glad to see you're carefully considering your early application strategy! You're correct that Early Decision (ED) is binding and you can only apply to one school under that plan. However, with Early Action (EA), the situation is more flexible. Generally, you can apply to multiple colleges via EA, which is non-binding. This means you aren’t committed to attending if you're accepted and have until the regular decision deadline to make your choice.

One thing to note, though, is that some colleges have what's called Single-Choice Early Action (SCEA) or Restrictive Early Action (REA), which means that while you're not bound to attend if admitted, you're restricted from applying early to other private colleges.

Public universities typically don't impose such restrictions. Just be sure to read each college's application guidelines carefully to ensure you're not violating their policies. If you follow the rules, applying EA to multiple schools can be a fantastic way to potentially secure a spot early without the pressure of a binding commitment. Best of luck with your applications!
