College football and School spirit?

Just wondering how much a successful college football team contributes to school spirit. Like, are students typically more enthusiastic and involved if they have a team that's often in the top ranks?

That's a fantastic question, and the answer tends to vary across schools. At universities with successful collegiate football programs, there's usually a significant level of excitement and campus-wide involvement on game days. These sporting events often bring the campus community together as students, faculty, and staff rally behind their team, creating a unified and lively atmosphere, and generally promoting a stronger sense of school spirit.

Take the University of Alabama, for instance, which has a tradition of excellence in football. Their students tend to show significant enthusiasm for the team's successes. They're known for their "Roll Tide" pride and large, raucous game-day gatherings.

On the other hand, school spirit isn't solely dependent on a successful football team. Plenty of colleges, such as the University of California, Berkeley (now in the ACC) despite having a less consistently successful football team, also have active student bodies that enthusiastically participate in a series of other school events, traditions, and campus clubs, creating a vibrant feeling of school spirit.
