When do most college baseball recruits commit?

Hi everyone! I'm a high school junior and a prospective college baseball player. I understand commitments can vary from player to player and school to school, but I was hoping someone could tell me when most college baseball recruits typically commit? I want to get a sense of when I should ideally be making my decision. Thanks!

In the world of college baseball recruiting, the timelines can considerably depend on the NCAA division and the caliber of the player. However, generally speaking, high-level Division I recruits are often identified as sophomores or even freshmen in high school, and many tend to verbally commit between their sophomore and junior years. That being said, this is a 'commitment' in an unofficial sense. The official NCAA signing period for baseball doesn't start until November of your senior year.

On the other hand, late bloomers or athletes who may not be at the top tier, often commit in their junior or senior year, and sometimes not until after their high school graduation. This could be the case for Division II, Division III, NAIA, or junior college recruits.

I would recommend reaching out to coaches and attending combines or showcases as soon as possible if you haven't started doing so. This will help you get your name out there and improve your skills based on the feedback you receive. Don't stress if you don't commit as early as others. It's vital to find the right fit academically and athletically, and that takes time. Good luck!
