Which US college has most premed students?

So, I’m currently dreaming big about following a pre-med track and maybe, hopefully becoming a doctor one day. I live in the United States and I’ve been trying to figure out which colleges here accommodate the most premeds. Does anyone have an idea?

Sure, I'd be more than happy to assist with this question! To provide some insight, there's not a definitive list of specific numbers as colleges do not officially track the size of the pre-med population. However, a few universities are renowned for their large communities of pre-med students.

Many public state universities, due to their sheer size, often have a substantial number of premed students. UC Berkeley, UCLA and University of Florida are good examples. Among the private universities, large research institutions like Johns Hopkins, University of Pennsylvania, or Harvard often have a large number of premeds, due to their robust pre-med curriculum, reputable biology and chemistry programs, and association with hospitals or medical schools.

That being said, it's important to consider other factors including student-faculty ratio, availability of research opportunities, and strength of pre-med advising when choosing a college for your pre-med track. Also, being at a school with many premeds can have both ups and downs. On the positive, there'd be a lot of peers going through the same process who can provide support and advice. On the flip side, competition for research positions or grades in "weed-out" classes might be high. Focus less on the quantity of premed students and more on the resources and opportunities available to you as an individual.
