Degree choices and potential income

Hi everybody! I'm sort of stuck between a few potential major options and leaning towards those that pay the most in the long-run. Could anyone provide information or insights on which college degrees tend to yield the highest salaries post graduation?

Sure, this is a common concern for many students, and I'm glad you're thinking ahead! Eventually, earning potential can differ widely depending on many factors, including the field you enter, the precise job you get, and where you live.

However, typically degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields have a reputation for high earning potential. For example, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical engineering graduates tend to have high starting salaries.

Other high-paying degrees often include those in the healthcare field such as Pharmacy, Medicine (requires postgraduate education obviously), and Nursing (especially with specialized certifications).

Additionally, degrees in Economics, Actuarial Science, and Finance are associated with high earning potential, particularly if you land roles in high-finance or corporate firms.

But keep in mind, the potential high earning from these degrees also often comes with a high stress, long hours, and steep learning curves. So, choosing a degree based only on earning potential may not be the best strategy since job satisfaction also plays a crucial role in long-term success. It's important to consider your interests, skills, and career goals, as well as salary.
