Junior Year - The most crucial year?

My counselor keeps telling me that junior year is the most critical year in high school, and it's stressing me out a bit. I guess I don't fully understand why. Can anyone shed some light on why it's considered the most crucial year?

Third, it's a time when students typically begin to define their extracurricular profile with a high level of depth or commitment, demonstrating passion and leadership. Your activities during this year can showcase your interests beyond academics and can become significant components of your college applications.

While junior year is critical, remember that each year of high school contributes to your overall profile as a prospective college applicant.
